Stix Bones
Brooklyn, USA – a borough known for producing some of the world’s greatest talent – delivers another powerhouse musician: Stix Bones, a Recording Academy member and one of the most respected drummers and bandleaders in the New York Tri-State area.
A graduate of Purchase College, SUNY, with a degree in Jazz Performance, Stix launched his career touring the UK and France with Rahzel, “The Godfather of Noise” (The Roots), and across the U.S. with poet and five-time Showtime at the Apollo winner Jessica Care Moore. He went on to serve as music director for the iconic Lyricist Lounge, collaborating with hip-hop legends De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Q-Tip, Mos Def (Yasiin Bey), Common, and Doug E. Fresh.
Stix’s debut smooth jazz album, Groove Like This, became a breakthrough, landing on over 40 U.S. jazz stations and reaching the Top 10 on SmoothJazz.com. His versatility continued as drummer for internationally acclaimed band Soulfege, touring nationwide and recording two award-winning albums, including Afropolitan, which debuted on the JazzWeek World Charts. His production work has appeared on The Real Housewives of Miami, I Love Jenni, Delaware Public TV, and the film Saint Judy. He also produced music for Derrick Ashong’s Emmy-nominated series Take Back The Mic.
With his own powerhouse ensemble, The BONE Squad, Stix has electrified audiences as the house band for The Paradise Theater in the Bronx, opening for icons like Charlie Wilson, Chaka Khan, SWV, The O’Jays, Babyface, and Cedric the Entertainer. They’ve supported R&B star Keke Wyatt and shared stages with Horace Brown, Lyfe Jennings, and Pieces of a Dream, headlined & featured at venues and festivals including **Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar, Chelsea Table + Stage, Silvanas, The Cutting Room, Queens Agricultural Festival, The Tin Pan, Branford on the Green, The Shubert Theater, Hamden Concert Series and the Hartford Jazz Festival.
Stix continues to push boundaries with projects like Breaks From the Soul – a jazz/hip-hop hybrid spotlighted by DJs Rob Swift (The X-Ecutioners), DJ Hard Hittin Harry (Wu-Tang Clan), and the legendary DJ Jazzy Jay, and has been in rotation on Music Choice and Infinity's Jazz stations. Following the phenomenal success of his hip-hop-influenced LP, Stix Bones is back on the skins once more with his latest release, "Olimpik Soul". This album proudly introduces Bob Beamon, an Olympic Record Holder of the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games on percussion.
Respected for his musicianship and creativity, Stix Bones is more than a drummer; he’s a cultural bridge-builder, delivering rhythm and soul to every stage he touches. He is truly credited as a Brother Of Noble Excellence.
